JIRP Brochures through the
Years
Historically, one of the primary recruitment tools for the
Juneau Icefield Research Program was the annual brochure. These
were sent to universities and past and current JIRPers all
across the United States, and for decades they were students' first contact with JIRP.
Many long-time JIRPers would anxiously await the new season's
JIRP brochure in the mail, curious to see if one of their photos
had been chosen for the cover. Sadly, but perhaps inevitably,
the utility of these brochures was replaced by more modern forms
of communication with the ubiquity of the Internet and social
media. So while today's methods may get the word out with less
cost, it's still sad to see the demise of the JIRP brochure.
